The largest sample behind any question here

This is the household argument that people are most confident has an obvious answer, and it is the one where the confidence is least earned: almost everyone has a position, almost nobody has ever seen the numbers, and the position is usually inherited from whoever hung the roll when they were a child. There is no correctness to establish here. There is only what people do.

The reference comes from a YouGov poll of 27,810 US adults — by a wide margin the largest published sample behind anything on this site, and about twenty-five times the panel behind the food questions. Respondents with no preference are not carried into the distribution. A sample that size pins its own figure tightly; it still says nothing about anywhere outside the United States.
